Sea going King salmon or Chinooks have a bluish green color on their backs. Their gums are black and they have black markings on their backs as well. Spawning king salmon are red in color. Silver salmon or coho just as their name indicates are silver in color with black markings on their backs as well. Packaging the salmon which you catch is part of the regulations if you aren’t transporting your fish whole. Check with the lodge or resort that you will be staying with for this kind of services. Most will provide you with vacuum sealing or similar packing methods.
